When airlines form a joint venture they coordinate pricing and schedules in a given market, and have a revenue sharing agreement. Exactly how that revenue sharing agreement works depends on the specific situation, but the idea is that two airlines are essentially acting as one under a joint venture. Note that airlines form joint ventures between specific regions, which is why this is different than an outright merger. A while back, a request was made to form a new transatlantic joint venture. That means that rather than two separate joint ventures, Delta would have a single joint transatlantic venture. Well, today that joint venture has been tentatively approved. As you can see, this being approved also means that Alitalia is being cut out of the transatlantic joint venture.
Does this mean a Delta flight crew on a KLM plane? Or vice versa? I noticed when I attempted to book via Priceline that I can't choose my seats, which I kind of figured, but it is important to me that the two of us sit together - preferably 2 aisle seats across from one another. Is it worth a try to call Delta after booking to attempt to get the seating that I'd like? Any thoughts would be appreciated - Thx. It means a Delta flight with a Delta crew. These two airlines are in an alliance and you can buy tickets for either airline on either website.
Hello everyone! I just need clarity on something, it's not a huge problem; more of a curiousity!

I am planning to book round trip travel from Austin to Kilimanjaro, connecting in Atlanta and Amsterdam. I understand that I will have to pay for seat assignment and I'm ok with that. I'd also like to upgrade to Economy Comfort and I'm willing to pay for that as well. I would just like to know that when I book my round trip flight , I can immediately select seats on the Delta flights and also the KLM flights and that my seat assignments will "stick". Can anyone out there confirm that it can be done or that it can't? Last I knew it depended on the fare class you booked.
