Canadian Gearhead was created to provide product reviews, how-to articles and much more from a unique Canadian perspective. This does not in any way skew my opinions of products. Normally, a feature vehicle article is all about the details of the vehicle itself. What is interesting however, is the story of how it came to be my bike. I hope you enjoy.

Harley-Davidson is supposed to offer the proper ride to anyone with a taste for freedom, not necessarily speed, and the FXSTB Softail Night Train is one of those special bikes that the American company builds for a specific rider crowd. Destined to young, rebel and fit if we take in consideration the riding position bikers, this might not be the ideal highway cruising motorcycle, but it will make a striking good impression down the boulevard. Style is what sets this model apart from all of the other ones in the Softail family so the bike makes use of the same 1, cc Twin Cam 96B balanced engine and six-speed Cruise Drive transmission. The seat is positioned at Unlike the Rocker C, the Night Train features an easy to spot and always there pillion seat as this is actually a part of the passenger one stretching on to the Custom rear fender unveiling the mm rear tire. For , Harley-Davidson ads a new special color, which also makes the MSRP special, but the Night Train features no significant change in what regards the technical aspect. First, it was powered by the carbureted 1, cc

The latest guide to all new UK Motorcycles and Scooters is now available on-line Road test and pictures by Adrian Percival. This just happened to be the National Rally, a mile jaunt around the UK, starting at 2pm on a Saturday and ending sometime in the early hours of the following morning at a racecourse in Staffordshire! Some people said I was mad at even contemplating taking the Harley on such a run, suggestions from various individuals were that I should take my Osteopath with me in a back-up vehicle as the riding position was not quite suitable for this kind of rally and this type of long haul trip! Well ignoring all sense and good advice, I took it with a pinch of salt and packed up the bike ready for the off later in the day. Harley-Davidson build this particular model based on the Softail specifically for Europe, and it was named by Willie G as the Night Train. The name comes from the manufacturers first proper custom bike back in the early 70's, a stripped down Shovel Head, nicknamed the Night Train after it became known from a road test in the famous American magazine 'Hot Rod'.

Harley Davidson Night Train Test Ride Review

However, nestled within the family is a rogue that does things a little differently—the Harley-Davidson Night Train. The Harley-Davidson Night Train—not to be confused with the high alcohol-content wine favored by derelicts—is a retro-modern cruiser motorcycle distinguished by its blacked out details, bobtail fender, and narrow, raked front end. Its long and low geometry makes it surprisingly easy to turn, and high, forward-placed footpegs avoid the grinding that is commonly experienced with floorboard-model Harleys. While an off-the-rack Harley-Davidson Night Train subtly hints at custom styling, the light work performed on this bike yields exponential results. With reformed foam that offers greater comfort for long rides, the suede inserts add texture to the black leather, while the smoothed-out form delivers a more sculptural, streamlined alternative to the stock seat. Though the added comfort is a welcome addition to the rider, passengers may find riding pillion uncomfortable on long journeys. Also lightening the visual load is the replacement of the solid aluminum rear wheel with a larger, wire-spoked inch stainless steel wheel clad with an aggressive mm Metzeler tire.

Had to replace the battery, brake pads and tires. And that is all. Other than some rust pits on chrome, but I live on the beach and I ride my Night Train. I don't spend too much time waxing it. This bike is the fastest bike I have ever ridden. It handles wonderfully and it is very comfortable. It has proven to be the most reliable bike I have ever owned.

To make the menacing Night Train look even more so, it receives a black slotted disc rear wheel, colour-matched components including sprocket, engine and engine covers. The raked out front is controlled by the drag bars installed on six-inch riders to give you that real chopper look and feel. Skip to main content. Instagram: 8. Facebook: K.
